Ok, so they may not be everyone's favourite way to pass the time, but meetings are a necessary means of assessing where we're at and determining where to go next.

Meeting Types

There are lots of different meetings in the Circuit, and each has its own purpose:

• Circuit Meeting
  A gathering of people from across the Circuit, where Circuit-wide decisions are made. It's then down to the church reps to pass news back to the Church Council.

  Attendees: Ministers; circuit stewards; circuit treasurer; full-time circuit lay workers and line managers; circuit meeting secretary; local preachers secretary; 1 steward, 1 treasurer and 1-3 reps per church; anybody else (non-voting).

• Circuit Leadership Team
  A smaller meeting to give support to the Ministers and explore how to implement some of the matters discussed at the Circuit Meeting.

  Attendees: Ministers; circuit stewards; circuit treasurer; youthworker line manager; 1 rep from each unrepresented church.

• General Church Meeting
  This is where anyone in the church can have their say in church matters. There may be an agenda but it also serves as an open forum. Recommendations from here are passed on to Church Council.

  Attendees: Minister; any other interested parties.

• Church Council
  The main meeting place of the church, where most decisions are made. It's also a platform for other parts of the church to report back.

  Attendees: Minister; reps from church groups; reps from the church; anybody else (non-voting).

• Stewards' Meeting
  The stewards are the leadership team within a church, directly beneath the Minister. They meet together for fellowship, prayer and support, and to further the development of the church.

  Attendees: Minister; church stewards.

• Local Preachers' Meeting
  Brings together all the preachers who lead our worship, to share support and ideas and seek God's common desire in their ministries.

  Attendees: Ministers; local preachers.

• Other Meetings
  Obviously, other groups in the church will need to call meetings from time to time. If these aren't church-specific, they'll appear under the Circuit Meetings section.

  Attendees: various.
